I wish. I injured myself and the F'ers decided to discharge me during week 8. So I'm back indefinitely.

Rockers, really sorry to hear that. When I was in tech school (what you guys call AIT), we had a lot of people discharged for injuries (as well as outright course failures). The number of people in the military and people joining is at a peak because of the economy and the services are trying to cut numbers by doing thing like this.

Unfortunately true. Evidently, the Army is at 120% recruitment

Um, not to be rude, but army recruitment rate isn't exactly on topic.

There are some questions that need answers if we are going to have any success.

If we are going to take a collection, someone should take charge of that. One of the senior moderators or one of the guys (formerly) from ABQA? How would that work, Paypall, cash in person, or something else?

Does anyone have real estate experience or know someone who could help out with finding land or a building to purchase?

Who is going to own the site? Are there going to be volunteer positions?

Perhaps we could follow the example of fields in other states and have a day once in awhile when people can come in and help build out the site on a volunteer basis. If so, may I suggest an age limit? A ten year old with power tools, think about it.

Perhaps some one could see about getting some support from law enforcement? (Not financial but, just so they know we are there and not to worry, it would be much better to have a happy relationship than a strained one).

Paintball/Airsoft sounds like it could work but when would the airsofters play and when would the paintballers take over? What about paint clean up?

And speaking of clean up, I think it would make things much easier, etc. if the field was bio BBs only. (assuming it's outside)
It would make for better public relations too, it's one less thing for people to complain about.

Any other thoughts guys? Let's get this off the ground!

I was just speaking in general. WE need to organize a meeting of people who would be interested and serious about helping. The plauge for the airsoft is land to play on. The next thing is the fact that people are going to want a lot of money for a decent piece of land to work with. As far as clean up that could be one of the things that players have to do whrn they use the field. Or we coould just do it ourselves.

Nextly, I am serious about meeting with some of you guys that are a little older and more serios about the whole thing so we can talk business in person. This whole fourm thing really doesnt accomplish too much.

Lastly, I know there is a fairly small chance that this will work and that most of us are stupid kids who think we can save this thing, but we should try and at least talk it over and see what we have on our side here. All im asking is that we stop whinning on the computer and talk about it as a community. If it falls through its fine at least we can say that we tried something.

Bishop, you are often right about the topics of business and i respect that, but we have no other choice but to try. Lets see what we come up with. I would like to hear everyones input. There are around 220 members here so there should be something said for a good number of you.

Zen,
I really do want to do this when I come back.

Listen guys as soon as my company gets its funding it'll take me about a week to get back. Once I'm back I'll need to get into a house and get into a groove at work. Month total.

Once that's done we can all hook up somewhere and talk about it. I was advocating this a LONG time ago. One of the bigger problems is that Adam lives way out in BFE.

We'll get something worked out but guys you gotta know this is a rebuilding year, this isnt a year to play. We'll get there.

Improvise, adapt and overcome!

I really regret not making time to play more often. And your right Bishop, at the time of this posting, it is only my third post on this forum. I'm guilty of not getting involved like I should. I'd bet there's a lot of people in Albuquerque who are thinking the same thing now that ABQA is gone.

I'd be willing to give up a large portion of my pay check this summer to getting a new place to play. I'd be buying airsoft stuff anyway, and without a place to play, it's useless. I know some other people on my team who might be willing to do the same if it helps.

Thats never stopped me from meeting anyone in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. The only thing it prevents me from doing is meeting anyone online in a video conference (lack of broadband).

All who know me, know i've tried setting up a half a billion meetings, and I'm all for helping with another.

I just had a thought about finding somewhere to play on a regular basis. I know that paintball action used to have an agreement with the owner of oak flats to play there every weekend. seeing as oak flats is relatively close to abq, it would be a start if we could get a game together up there every sat. or sun. I haven't played airsoft at oak flats, so I don't know what the turnout has been like in the past, but it would at least be a start if it became a regular place to play.
